Race is an issue in our culture and in our congregations.  How does the gospel relate to the divides in our city, and how can our churches be a bridge towards unity and love?

Speakers:

Matthew Jones is a native of Los Angeles, where he happily resides with his wife (of 15 years). Together, they have fostered 4 children and adopted 3 sons, bringing their growing family to six children. For the past 17 years, he has worked in ministry in LA at Del Rey Church, where he currently serves as lead pastor.  Dr. Jones is currently pursuing a Ph.d from the London School of Theology on the topic of the history of Los Angeles churches and race.

Bobby Scott believes he married up when God blessed him with his wife, Naomi. He loves his six (yes, six!) kids. As a pastor at Community of Faith Bible Church, he loves teaching the Word of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit and watching it transform people's lives (2 Cor 3:18). He is passionate about strengthening the urban church, and you can read more about his thoughts on his blog Truth in the City.

Kris Brossett was born and raised in Los Angeles.  God saved him from a jail cell and after transformation and training, Kris planted Refuge LA in 2013.  Kris has been married to his beautiful wife, Jennifer, since 2005; they have three children. Kris has a heart to see the gospel transform the city of LA while breaking through cultural, socio-economic and racial barriers that have divided the city far too long

PJ Tibayan grew up in East L.A. County and longs to see healthy churches centered and shaped by Jesus Christ and his gospel. He leads Bethany Baptist Church in Bellflower, Southeast L.A. County where he lives his wife Frances and their five children. He blogs at gospelize.me and helps lead The Gospel Coalition Los Angeles Regional Chapter and the Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association.

Steve Ross has been married to his lifelong best friend Jamie for 15 years. They're blessed to raise 3 sons and 4 daughters in the inner city they grew up in together. He currently serves the Lord bi-vocationally as the Executive Pastor of Reach Fellowship in Long Beach and Ministry Development Coordinator at Children's Hunger Fund, equipping churches in the complexities of urban poverty and gospel-centered mercy ministry.
