Who is Jared Wilson?

Jared WilsonJared Wilson is the Director of Content Strategy for Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Managing Editor of For The Church, Midwestern's site for gospel-centered resources. He has written several books.  Jared is not a catalytic "agent of change" or a visionary anything. He is a failed church planter and once made a mess of his marriage. He likes food too much and worries way too much about what people think, and he's definitely not all that he's cracked up to be. After 20 years of ministry, he's mainly learned that he's kind of a nincompoop. But he knows Jesus loves him.

Endorsement

"I’m embarrassed to admit how often I’ve found myself listening to the siren song of "ministry success” (whatever that means) or finding my significance wrapped up in the fickle god of weekend attendance. I suspect I’m not alone. That’s why I’m thankful for Jared Wilson. To my desire for “ministry success”, Jared has reminded me that the power for ministry isn’t in programs, the “weekend experience" or rockin' worship sets. The power is in the proclamation of the gospel. As Jared often writes, “what you win them with is what you win them to” and if we’re not winning them with the gospel, we’re not winning them at all. To my need for significance, Jared’s writings have taken me back again and again to (as he says) the well of “gospel deeps” helping me see how the gospel isn’t just good news for the pagan sinner, but for this insecure pastor."
